Assessment Information

At Canterbury Cross we use Assessing Pupil Progress to track and monitor every child’s progress. Assessment information is collected and next steps for the child’s learning are identified and planned into the curriculum.

At the end of each term children complete end of term tests, these form check points to monitor the children’s progress against end of year expectations. Children have targets for Reading, writing and maths, these targets are monitored by staff and children and are updated as the children achieve them.

Canterbury Cross recognises that children are key to their own learning, we use a self assessment system where the children are able to assess their own learning at the end of each lesson. Throughout the year we have 2 parent’s evenings and a general report at the end of the academic year.

New whole school targets are sent out every term to allow parents to be involved in the area of school improvement we are focussing on. We welcome and encourage parents to speak to the class teacher throughout the year to discuss their child’s progress.
